March 6 & 7 - Annual Maple Syrup Festival & Breakfast. This weekend, break out the spring jackets and wander through Shawnee Prairie just west of Greenville on State Route 502 for the 2nd Annual Maple Syrup Festival on Saturday, March 6 from 7:30 am – 4 pm and Sunday, March 7 from noon – 4 pm. Guided tours of the entire process of making maple syrup will be offered free of charge to the public. Learn how maple syrup was made hundreds of years ago, and then visit the “Sugar Shack” to get an insider’s view (and taste) of the modern-day process. Afterwards, warm up by the fire in the Log House and learn tales of days gone by from Pioneer Interpreters. Maple syrup products will be for sale.
On Saturday, March 6, The Friends of the Parks will be serving up a hearty breakfast of waffles, sausage, juice, coffee and, of course pure Ohio maple syrup. March 27 - Fourth Annual Easter Basket Benefit at Ghyslain's. Children of all ages will hand-paint their own chocolate lollipops, then fill a basket for themselves with toys and goodies as well as fill a basket full of goodies for a local, needy child. The Easter bunny will be on-hand so that the children and families can have their picture taken with him. Light refreshments will be available. Cost is $5 per basket. March 27 - Adult Easter Egg Hunt. Enjoy this very youthful activity from 5 to 9 pm at The Winery at Versailles. Adults "21 and up" can hunt for prize-filled eggs in the vineyard.
