Plans well Under Way for Museum’s Historic Dinner; Featuring” Lost in the 1950’s” Dining on Main”
On April 1st (no fooling) we will turn the clock back to an early spring night on Main Street in Versailles (recreated in the Knights of Columbus Hall). The Versailles Historical Society will host its fourth annual Historic Dinner. We invite our guests back in time to the fabulous 1950’s!
This fun filled evening begins with cocktails at our cash bar and snacks reminiscent of the treats served in the 1950’s perhaps at a place like the legendary Frenchies. We will ask Tom George to recall the place his mom & dad, Ann and Jim George loved. He may even remember a tale or two about longtime Bar Tender, Leo Batty.
Following that we’ll stop by the C&J Café for their luncheon smorgasbord. Bob Condon will share his tales about folks Russ & Rita and their time running this longtime Versailles favorite. But we’re not done yet, let’s cross the street for a sweet treats for desserts at Brown’s Sweet Shop. Where Larry Brown and sister Arlene will recount some of the tales of Sock Hops and after game gatherings at the renound Sweet Shop!
Live music end the evening complements of Ron & Elaine Marchall as you enjoy the love songs and crazy hits of those happy days of the 1950’s.
Your iconic period dinner will include delicious roast beef & dressing, pan fried chicken, augraten potatoes, green beans w/ham, fresh salad, homemade salad dressings, Sweet Shop bread, and a variety of Sweet Shop desserts treats!
Tickets are on sale NOW at the Museum or by calling the Museum Office at 937- 526- 4222 leaving your name number and amount of tickets needed and we will return your call.
All tickets remain at $50.00 each, but for you our Museum members will receive $5.00 discount on their tickets as a way for us to say “thank-you” for your support!
Full tables of eight are available if ordered at one time. Sadly only a limited number of seats can be offered in the Father Jackle Room, located in the Versailles K of C. so order early so you won’t be disappointed!
It’s time to find those poodle skirts, Varsity jackets and saddle shoes. We are going to the Hop with all the thrills we can remember!
