'Art at the Mill' Reception & Exhibit

March 28, 2014 - April 20, 2014
Reception: March 28 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Paintings by Michael Glass, and Glass by James Kahle start the 2014 'Art at the Mill' series at Historic Bear's Mill. Both artists will be present and speaking at the reception on Friday, March 28 to kick off their 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional exhibit. The reception is free of charge and open to the public with wine and light appetizers. This is an informal evening and family friendly. The exhibit will be on display during normal Mill Store & Gallery business hours of 11:00 am to 5:00 pm daily through Sunday, April 20.

Hippity Hop 5K Trail Run/Walk and Easter Egg Hunt

The Hippity Hop 5K Trail Run/Walk is brought to you by the Y and the Light Foundation and is the first race in the Wayne Healthcare Challenge. Fun for all ages, come challenge yourself to the beautiful trail run/walk and bring your children for the easter egg hunt. Free childcare available during the run/walk (for kids under the age of 9). Darke County Parks' Presents: Nature Day!

What better time to celebrate nature than Earth Day weekend? This year, the Darke County Parks' will extend the event to include a flurry of activities and information at Shawnee Prairie. Stations will be scattered throughout the trails surrounding the Nature Center encouraging admiration of all things Nature. Children will have the opportunity to have their “passport” stamped at each station for a prize. There will also be scheduled, naturalist-led hikes throughout the day. A snake, turtle, hawk and owl will be walking the trails and Brukner Nature Center will join the fun by adding an opossum, bat and a flying squirrel to the mix. Entertainer extraordinaire, Chris Rowlands, will be joining us for a FREE concert at 12:00 pm. Chris is a Naturalist Teacher for Aullwood Audubon Center, bringing music and life-size puppets to the stage for the benefit of children and adults alike! The Native Plant Sale will also take place this day. The Friends of the Park will also be serving a low cost lunch from 11 am-1 pm. Come out and celebrate nature!

Darke County Parks' Presents: Native Plant Sale

The Darke County Parks Native Plant sale is back! Butterfly gardening is the focus of the plants available this year. Please consider planting milkweed to help provide habitat for the struggling monarch population. Plants are available for pre-sale AND/OR purchase on the day of the Plant Sale. Pre-sale is the only way to guarantee that you will receive the quantity and variety of plants that you want. Pre-sale forms and payment must be turned in by March 28, 2014. If you can’t decide what to order, then visit us during the plant sale to see what is available! Pre-sale forms are available on our website or at the Nature Center.

First Friday in downtown Greenville - Upper Floors Tour

This amazing tour will take place from 6-9 pm. Mote and Associates, Inc. sponsor this annual Upper Floor Building Tour, a professional design firm specializing in civil engineering and land surveying. The tour is presented by Main Street Greenville in collaboration with Historic Preservation Month to bring awareness and respect to our built environment. Hike to Health with the Darke County Parks
