Art at the Mill Reception & Exhibit w/ Mike Major

Mike Major has created monumental bronze sculptures that can be seen across the country as well as playful paintings and evocative landscapes inspired by scenes near his home; the Urbana artist will bring his work to historic Bear's Mill during the month of October. The exhibit will open on Friday, September 26 with a reception featuring hors d'oeuvres and drinks from 6 pm to 9 pm; the artist will speak briefly about his work, methods and inspiration at 7 pm. This exhibit continues through Sunday, October 26.

DCCA presents GHOST WALK 2014

Candlelight Dinners on the Prairie

Join the Darke County Park District at the table for a meal and experience you won't soon forget. The pioneers will open their home as to prepare a feast in the 18th century style and tradition. This fundraising evening will offer educational glimpses of pioneer skills and traditions, a meal cooked over the hearth fire and served family style, seating in the Log House loft and after-dinner entertainment from a wandering story-teller and musician. All proceeds will be put towards the care of the Log House and cultural programming funds. Age 21 and up, please. Pre-registration required. Cost is $50/person or $90/couple. Fees due October 13.

The Great Pumpkin Hunt

A Tribute To Our Military with The Arcanum Wayne Trail Historical Society

There will be a ceremony, laying of a wreath at the Veterans Memorial and a display of flags honoring the military. A reception will follow at the Arcanum Wayne Historical Society. View the "Missing Man Table" and other military memorabilia displays. The person(s) you wish to honor will have a small flag with their name attached to the flag. All flags will be displayed on the lawn of the Arcanum Veterans Memorial Park on George St. Information requested: name, rank, branch of service and dates served. Night Out with The Wavaires

The Greenville High School Vocal Music Department presents “A Night Out with The Wavaires,” Saturday, November 1 at 7:00 pm at St. Clair Memorial Hall. All seats are reserved, and tickets may be purchased at the Greenville High School ticket booth, 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Thursday, October 23 through Friday, October 31. The price of the tickets is $6 for adults and $4 for students in advance and $7 for adults and $4 at the door. There are no refunds or exchanges. Tickets may also be reserved by contacting Katie Netzley (evenings until 9 p.m.) at 547-9659. The choirs are accompanied by Judy Mills and directed by Chelsea Whirledge. The concert will begin with The Wavaires performing "Dance to the Music", "I've Had the Time of My Life", and "Cruisin' for a Bruisin". The concert will continue with many different solos and spotlight selections, including "Let it Go", "There's a Place for Us", "I Dreamed a Dream", "Lego House", a SNL skit entitled "Don't Fear the Reaper", and more. A few of the highlights for The Wavaires will include a medley from the hit musical and movie, "Jersey Boys", as well as a tap dancing number, "Touch the Sky" from the motion picture Brave. Along with The Wavaires, several students in grades 4-9 will also be performing three songs as part of the annual Wavaire Camp. These selections will open up the second half of the show, and include "Under the Sea", "You've Got a Friend in Me" and "Let it Grow". The concert will conclude with three upbeat numbers, including "What Does the Fox Say", "Bella’s Finals" from the movie Pitch Perfect, and "Long Train Runnin'". DCCA Special Comedy Presentation DAN ST PAUL

Featured on the syndicated Bob and Tom Show, his CD “Natural and Good for You” contains one of the most requested comedy pieces on radio, “The First Baseball Game.” Dan has opened for such superstars as Jerry Seinfeld and Natalie Cole, and has appeared on several episodes of “An Evening at the Improv” in addition to numerous shows on VH-1, MTV and Comedy Central. Family Movie Night at Darke County Parks ~ DisneyNature's Bear

Join the Darke County Parks as they host a screening of the DisneyNature film, “Bears.” DisneyNature’s Bears takes viewers on an educational and entertaining adventure through the Alaskan wilderness, where the documentary follows a fiercely protective mama bear named Sky and her two young cubs, Amber and Scout, over the course of an entire year. This movie is enjoyable for kids and adults, alike! Please call and let us know how many to expect so we have enough popcorn! Bring a blanket or comfy folding chair. This film is rated G, but parents should use discretion due to the “circle of life” aspects of the movie.
