5:30 pm

The Treaty of Greenville Bicentennial Commission and the Darke County Park District will host a Peace and Friendship Summit in commemoration of the bicentennial of the signing of the Second Treaty of Greenville in July of 1814. The Summit begins with a banquet and a grand opening of the Park District's new Tecumseh Room which celebrates the lives and the contributions of the Native American tribes who lived in and visited the Darke County Area. On display this summer in the Tecumseh Room, thanks to a loan from the Kansas City Museum, for a limited time will be one of the three original silver peace pipes given at this second treaty signing, along with other artifacts owned by the Park District including the Kinzie Brooch and a George Washington Peace Medal. The Tecumseh Room is specially designed to be a hand-on educational experience. The banquet will include foods introduced by the American Indian as well as dulcimer music and a parade of period dress. More Information »
