The town of Versailles will be taken over by thousands of visitors for it's annual chicken festival. Greenville Farm Power of the Past - July 7-10, 2022
Celebrate the agricultural heritage of Ohio with threshing & bailing demonstrations, tractor pulls, gas engine machines, antiques, classic tractors, draft tractors and equipment, flea market, food, music, and camping at the Darke County Fairgrounds. Kings Royal - July 13-16, 2022
One of the most celebrated dirt track races in the country teams up with one of the most historic: the Kings Royal and the Historical Big One! The Kings Royal takes the track on Wednesday (Jokers Wild), Friday (Knight Before the Kings Royal) and Saturday ($175,000-to-win Kings Royal). The $100,000-to-win Historical Big One returns for the first time in 19 years on Thursday.

The Gathering at Garst - July 29-31, 2022
Experience this exceptional event held outside on the beautiful grounds of Garst Museum in Greenville, Ohio. Featuring juried artists, antique dealers, garden exhibits, skilled historical craftsmen, along with musical performances and unique food vendors. A living history encampment with participants from the French and Indian War through the Civil War is staged nearby. The sound of cannons and muzzleloaders will ring out along with the clip clop of trotting horses as carriage rides are offered both days on the tree lined street bordering the Garst grounds. Prairie Days - Sept. 24-25, 2022
Apple butter cooking over the fire; pioneers in and around the Log House; vendors displaying their wares; tall-tales being spun; crafts to make... must be Prairie Days! This is THE event for Darke County Parks. Each year, this Free Family Event brings in 4,000 people to Shawnee Prairie Preserve.
Held annually the last full weekend of September, this event focuses on the prairie way of life in and around 1780-1810 and will feature many crafts, games and trades of the time period. Many crafts are free for children and with a select few requesting a small donation. Bring your family to the Prairie and step back in time!

Walking in a Winter Wonderland- Dec. 3, 2022
This holiday season, join Darke County Parks for an evening stroll through the Winter Wonderland at Shawnee Prairie Preserve! There will be over 350 luminaries lighting the way along the wooded trails, allowing for a peaceful winter’s night in nature. As families hike along the illuminated trail toward the log house and blacksmith shop, they can enjoy crisp air, the bright stars, and perhaps the light crunch of snow on this early December evening. In the log house, the fire will be warm with holiday snacks and drinks to sample. Enjoy pioneer music of Christmas’ past while relaxing in the comforts of the 18th century. Holiday crafts for all ages will be available upstairs in the log house and in the Nature Center to fuel the memories of this staff-favorite event. The Nature Center and Gift Shop will be open throughout the event, offering a chance to discover a selection of unique gifts or that perfect holiday stocking stuffer! Don’t forget to bring a votive candle (or two) as a donation for next year’s path! Walkin’ in a Winter Wonderland is the perfect event for the whole family to celebrate the winter season. Start a family tradition this year.

Winter Wonderland at Chenoweth Trails - Dec. 9-11, 2022
The Light Foundation’s Winter Wonderland at Chenoweth Trails is a fundraiser that includes a memorable one-mile outdoor walk through sparkling holiday lights and a beautiful Christmas Tree display expanded to our newly built timber frame tree house and covered bridge!
For a donation, guests can enjoy roasting marshmallows while sipping on hot cocoa. Kids will have the opportunity to see Santa working in his toy shop in between playing games, making crafts and listening to Christmas music! There will be an Adopt-a-Tree contest where guests can vote for their favorite decorated tree. Don’t forget to drop off your letter to Santa, too!
